It seems Interprise SP4 is doing it's usual freezing, for example, if you open microsoft outlook use Interprise then customer phones up you minimise Interprise then use outlook then try to get back to Interprise - it won't let you as it's frozen and only way in is to End Task it.

We reported this issue over 12 months ago when we installed the product and at the time had to remove Roaming Profiles from our network.

I believe there is two causing of this, firstly if your running a resolution less than 1024x768 this seems to have a greater impact on the freqency of crashes. The main problem is because of a bug in the 3rd party controls devexpress that is causing this, and because it's a 12k pricetag to get the latest version that the freezing issue is resolved in they have not implemented new dll's.

The only solution is to remove roaming profiles, in our case these means once again my documents, etc are no longer being backed up.

Be aware of this when doing new installs, i'm unsure if this is fixed in the US version.

Chris

Exception Error - Any Advice would be appreciated

I get the following exception error using IS. We are on 5.3.2. It only happens on our XP machines and now also on a Windows 7 machine we are testing. Has any else experienced this? It happens when using the CRM module such as opening a case and/or activity. It appears to work on a Vista machine of ours. Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to set up a copy of the system for some development work by the web programmers. The target server is actually a production machine for some purposes, so I don't want to put a MSDN copy of SQL 2005 on there. The server has already SQL 2000.

I have not been able to move the database successfully from 2005 to 2000. I tried:
1) In 2005, changed the properties of the database to Compatibility Level SQL 2000 (80), backup, then restored in 2000. No go, error on-disk structure version 611 The server supports version 539...

2) Set up an ODBC connection on the 2000 server, pointing to the 2005 database, and then importing using that ODBC. That almost worked but eventually complained about a bad parameter to the Substring function but didn't say what SP or view that happened in. Didn't actually import anything at all.

Anyone know how to accomplish this?

Thanks.

Initial set up of customers to alow web access

Most companies taking on Interprise will have existing customers to import. We have a 'several thousand' customer database, most initiated through our old website. The remainder gained via telephone/mail-order.

My dilemma is this:
How to set customers within IS so they can accurately log in to our new IS website?

(Our existing website does not require a log in. We just assign new web orders manually to existing accounts or create new accounts, where necessary, within our old back office set up)

I can only think to somehow set them all up with a random log in password. Then we could email all the ones with an email address their password. The remainder, without email addresses can't be set up as the email address it the key to the log in on via the web.

I would have much preferred to have done nothing (like Everest's system works). On the web, the customers with recognized email addresses can simply request a password to be auto created upon the first log in. If the password has never been set then a random one is created and auto emailed. Can this be achieved with IS? The main advantage of this can be seen below

Day to day new customer manual entry:
We take an order from someone over the phone and we manually input his details (inc email address) and create his new account. We tell him that we have a great website if he would like to have a look. Later the next day, the same guy checks out our website and decides to place a second order. How will he be able to log in to the account we created for him (armed with just his email address)?

Invoice & Stock Fixer

Just wanted to let users know a few gotcas we've had with the UK version.

Invoice Fixer - probably best to run every week on each tab, it fixes problems with allocations, statements and of bugs in the invoicing side of interprise. This is updated quite regular by Interprise so ensure you get for the latest version now and again.

Stock Fixer - If you are having issues with stock quantites not balancing its most like because of some bugs in Interprise - they have released a Stock Fixer that fixes this. You need to ensure that this is run daily, otherwise you could end up in a sititation like us having to do a full stock take as we were not made ware of this tool for 11months into using the software.

You can get all these tools from the support team.
