I thought this question might have a broader appeal than just my situation:
I am installing IS on my SBS2003 R2 Server using the included SQL Server Workgroup edition. This will allow me to keep it locally in house while I set it up and get my employees comfortable with it. However, I do see a future for a dedicated hosted server and the ecommerce. I really doubt my load will be very much, so the question: Is it possible to "downgrade" the database to the free SQL express at that point? Thanks!

| Steve, I dont see a problem with it because we have customers running on SQL Express now (started on SQL Express though). I wouldnt recommend SQL Express because it can only handle so much load. If you website starts creating alot of traffic, SQL Express might not keep up with it. Also there are features you can use with SQL2005 that can help optimize the performance. Also if I recall, SQL Express will only go up to 2 Gig worth of data. So if you database gets big, it will not handle it. My opinion, I wouldnt run IS on SQL Express; I would only run IS on SQL2005. Hope that helps.
