Does anyone have a workaround for the following:

1) The ability to override the cost at the time of Order Entry. The Field is there ..but it does not allow you to override the cost. This is important in many cases.

2) I tried to add Quantity Back Ordered and Quantity Shipped to the Sales Order Detail Grid. The Fields show up in the User Role Interface..and let you place them..but when you save and go back in..the fields have been removed again. I spoke to support and they are not sure why this happens. I have a customer who needs this ability and it is critical to the way they process their Orders. Any Ideas?

Mark,

What you are looking to do regarding the costing and quantities can not be done to the sales order entry form.

Costing = These fields are set to read-only. You can change the cost on Non-Stock items to keep track of it. As you know these fields get filled at the time of order entry and they are never updated again. When it comes time to post the invoice, the system uses the current cost for the item. So even if you could change the cost, it wouldn't help since the posting process doesn't use these fields.

Quantities = These fields are not meant to be displayed on the sales order detail grid. If you notice, even after you put these fields into the grid, leave the form, and turn right around and reenter the form (during the same session in user role maintenance), these fields would have been removed. IS doesn't want users to update these fields.

A way to get around these problems (haven't tried it out so not sure if it'll work) is to sub-class the grids using the SDK and update the logic so the fields are not read-only and override methods to make the fields appear. But again this is breaking the rules of IS and would not recommend it.

Thanks Bill. Obviously not what the customer will want to hear. Unfortunately in his business when customers place orders for stock items that they may be out of stock for.....the need to change the cost right away as the driver may pick up the goods on teh way to make the delivery. I guess they will have to get used to making the change on teh system and hope that invoicing is done after they have time to make the change.

I am not a developer so SDK changes for me are out of the question..but it looks like I will have to rethink that ...as I see more and more changes may require it.
