Is there an easy method to get the website search feature to return the 'Department' for an item instead of the 'Category'?

We are using the 'Department' (Section) as a Manufacturer listing, with the Department top heading being the manufacturers we represent. Then the sub-departments are split depending on the products available from each manufacturer.

Below is how we would like the search to look.

Eg
Name                                     Department                Manufacturer
PAXP0000 Process input panel meter     Process meters            Red Lion Controls
 
PAXP0010 Process input panel meter     Process meters            Red Lion Controls

Suggestions would be very welcome and I hope I have missed something obvious that will allow this.
